Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to our most frequently asked questions
1. Am I employed and paid or is this on my own time?
If you are in the Distance Education or Community School, you are not paid. This is all on your own time and funds. You are able to proceed at the pace that is comfortable for you.
2. Is there a final exam?
No. There is a certification exam that is required. The certification exam is a nationally accredited exam through the National Healthcareer Association (NHAnow.com). This exam is to be taken at the end of 9 months after completion of the distance education. The school will pay for the first certification exam and study materials.
3. What happens if I do not pass the Certification Exam?
You will have the 12 months to retake the certification exam. This will be at your own expense.
4. Is there hands-on training?
You can choose to attend a competency training in which you can receive hands-on training from Nurse Managers and Medical Assistants who have at least 2 years of experience in the clinic setting. This is not part of the distance education and is not required. It is simply an option to get practical experience before working in a clinical setting. There is a cost.
5. What happens if I cannot complete the Distance Education or Apprenticeship?
Each case will be evaluated individually. If a situation comes up where you are struggling or have a life situation, you must notify the school immediately to determine what accommodations can be made. There is always something that we can do to support you as long as communication occurs. You will have up to 18 months to complete the distance education.
